Creator Partner Programme
Creator Programme Terms
Driving Test Expert Ltd · Last updated: 2 October 2026
The significant conditions, up front
- Joining is free, and we approve every creator ourselves.
- You earn 30% of net revenue on every payment a learner you referred makes (their first purchase, renewals and one-off purchases) for 12 months from the day they used your code. Net revenue is the price they paid in pounds ÷ 1.2 (UK VAT) × 0.85 (our flat allowance for app-store fees). Commission is worked out for each payment and rounded down to the penny.
- Only learners who haven’t bought before count, though a purchase made up to 7 days before they used your code still counts. The first code a learner ever uses is the one that counts, for good.
- Each payment is held for 30 days. We pay monthly by bank transfer once you’re owed £20 or more; smaller amounts roll over.
- If we change the programme, learners you’ve already referred keep earning you commission on the terms in force when you referred them. If either of us ends your participation, we keep paying commission on them for the rest of their 12 months (except any commission earned through a breach of these terms), and we pay your final balance even if it’s under £20.
- You must clearly label every promotion as an ad, and never call our routes official DVSA routes or promise a pass.
1. Who we are
The Test Routes Expert Creator Partner Programme (the “Programme”) is run by Driving Test Expert Ltd (“we”, “us”). It pays creators commission when learners they send us pay for the Test Routes Expert app. By taking part you agree to these terms.
2. Eligibility and approval
- The Programme is for UK creators who teach or document learning to drive, on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or similar. You must be 18 or over to apply and take part.
- You apply on drivingtestexpert.com/creators. We review every application and approve each creator ourselves. We may decline an application, and we don’t have to give a reason.
- When we approve you, we give you a personal code, a link to share and a private dashboard. Keep your dashboard link to yourself: anyone who has it can see your numbers.
3. Commission
- You earn 30% of net revenue on every payment a referred learner makes in the app (their first purchase, renewals and one-off purchases) for 12 months from the day they used your code.
- Net revenue is the price the learner paid in pounds sterling ÷ 1.2 (to take off UK VAT at 20%) × 0.85 (a flat 15% allowance for app-store fees). We work out the commission on each payment separately and round it down to the penny. For example, a £29.99 payment earns you £6.37, and a £12.99 payment earns you £2.76.
4. The Learner Discount
- Once the Learner Discount is switched on, learners who use your code get 20% off their first purchase in the app. On a weekly or monthly plan, that is their first week or month; later payments are at the normal price. It’s the same discount for everyone.
- We’ll tell you by email when it is switched on. Until then, learners who use your code get 5 free practice routes.
5. Which learners count
- New learners only. A learner is yours when they use your code in the app (typed in, or added for them when they install from your Android link) and haven’t bought in the app before. A purchase they made up to 7 days before using your code still counts, and so does every payment after it. A learner who first bought earlier than that isn’t yours.
- The first code wins. The first code a learner ever uses is the one that counts, permanently, so a learner who used someone else’s code first isn’t yours.
- These never earn commission: free trials; Family Sharing; payments in a currency other than pounds sterling; refunded or charged-back payments; purchases by you or anyone in your household; and payments made while your account is suspended.
6. Holds and payouts
- Each payment is held for 30 days from the day the learner paid, in case it’s refunded. After that, its commission is owed to you.
- We pay what you’re owed monthly, by bank transfer to a UK account in your name (or, if you take part through your own business, a UK business account you control), once you’re owed £20 or more. Smaller amounts roll over to the next month.
- If a payment is refunded or charged back after we’ve paid you its commission, we take that amount off your later payouts.
- We send a statement with each payout, and your private dashboard shows your learners, payments and commission as they come in.
- We never share learners’ personal data with you. Your dashboard shows totals only.
7. Labelling your promotions
- Follow UK advertising and consumer protection rules (the CAP Code, ASA guidance and the CMA’s guidance). Make every promotion obviously an ad from the start: put “Ad” at the start of the title or caption, or on the thumbnail; say it’s an ad at the start of the video; and use YouTube’s paid-promotion box or the platform’s paid-partnership label.
- A mention in the description box alone isn’t enough, and your code or link on its own isn’t a disclosure.
8. How you promote the app
- Don’t post your code or link on coupon, voucher or cashback sites.
- Don’t bid on “Test Routes Expert” or “Driving Test Expert” in paid search.
- Don’t spam: no unsolicited messages and no comment spam.
- Don’t say our routes are official DVSA test routes (they are practice routes), or that the app guarantees a pass. Don’t make any other misleading claim about the app or the offer.
- Until we tell you the discount is live, say your code gets 5 free practice routes.
- If you break these rules, we may withhold commission earned through the breach, and suspend or end your participation.
9. Tax and invoices
- You take part as a self-employed person (or through your own business), not as our employee. You’re responsible for your own tax and National Insurance on what we pay you.
- If you’re registered for VAT, send us a VAT invoice for each payout.
10. Changes to the Programme
- We may change the Programme, including these terms, for future payments. We’ll give you 30 days’ notice by email first.
- Learners you referred before a change keep earning you commission on the terms in force when you referred them.
11. Ending
- You or we can end your participation at any time, by email.
- After it ends, we keep paying commission on learners you’d already referred, for the rest of their 12 months and on the usual timing. The only exception is commission earned through a breach of these terms, which we may withhold (section 8). Learners who use your code after it ends aren’t yours.
- Once the last of that commission has cleared its 30-day hold, we pay your final balance, even if it’s under £20.
12. General
- Nothing in these terms makes you our employee, agent or partner in the legal sense.
- How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy.
- These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
